Photodynamic Therapy

PDT is a treatment option performed with a solution that sensitizes your skin to light. The solution is applied for 30-90 minutes and afterwards is activated by exposure to blue light. The reaction between the light and the solution cause a chemical reaction to treat actinic keratosis. The greatest improvement is in treating precancerous AKs. To achieve maximum results, treatments three times a week for six to eight weeks apart is most effective, but will be patient dependent.
